Snapdeal, EESL unite to sell LED bulbs at just Rs 99

Snapdeal, India’s premier ‘online’ shopping giant moved into an alliance with the country’s state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) to sell LED bulbs in the country for Rs 99 (US $1.46). The report has been confirmed by a leading newspaper.

The EESL body is incorporating NDA government’s Domestic Efficient Lighting Program (DELP), under which Snapdeal would allow its portal to sell LED bulbs for INR 99 per bulb. This step is to bolster the Ministry of Power’s LED bulb distribution online to more than 5,000 towns and cities in India. The ongoing effort is to integrate and make LED lighting available to every consumer in our country, according to a press release by Snapdeal.

The program has been welcomed by media authorities as this partnership will expand the Indian government’s LED bulb distribution reach shall further strengthen the essence of the DELP program.
