The researchers found that these
therapeutic practises help to improve both physical and mental health. Yoga and
meditation not only cures low blood pressure and cardiovascularissues but
also helps to calm down anxiety, stress and depression.
One of the main researchers James E
Stahl said, “Our study’s primary finding is that programmes that train patients
to elicit the relaxation response can also dramatically reduce healthcare
utilisation. These programmes promote wellness and in our environment of
constrained healthcare resources, could potentially ease the burden on our
health delivery systems at minimal cost and at no real risk.

The researchers underwent a
comparative examination of information right from 2006 to 2014 obtainable at
Research Patient Data Registry (RPDR) and information on individuals
volunteering in BHI Relaxation Response Resiliency Program. After the analysis,
the researchers found out that people who practised yoga and meditation spend
less on healthcare services as compared to people who didn’t adapt such practises
in their lives.
The research also showed that yoga
and meditation practitioners benefitted from musculoskeletal, neurologic,
indigestion and cardiovascular diseases.
