SIDING REPAIR MANUAL

The surfaces sheathed by a siding periodically need repair of separate elements. Most often, the panels are damaged by strong sharp blows with sharp objects; the split areas cannot be restored, and therefore the only way out is to replace them. Standard siding repair does not require special skills, so almost everyone can do it.

 

HOW IT IS CORRECT TO REPLACE THE PANEL

To repair a conventional panel, you need the following tools:

 

mounting hook;

nail puller;

screwdriver or hammer.

Dismantling of ordinary siding panel.

 

To carefully dismantle the unusable panel, use a special hook for installation. Between this panel and the one above, the end of the hook is inserted into the lock and carefully stretches down first, and then along the skin, releasing the mount. When the lock is unfastened along the entire length, the top panel needs to be bent to open access to the nail strip. With the help of a nail puller or screwdriver, all fasteners are removed; if individual nails fail to pull out, they should be tightly hammered into the crate. By the way, this point should be taken into account even when installing the casing: the replacement of damaged parts will occur much faster if the fastening of the elements was carried out only with screws.

 

A new panel is applied to the place removed and secured with screws. It is important to remember that it is impossible to screw the screws tightly or to drive nails into the holes on the siding, because the material is slightly deformed due to the temperature difference. Without the ability to freely taper and expand, it will deform even more, which over time will lead to swelling and cracking of the skin. After fixing the panel to the crate, the locks must be latched using the same hook. So that after  repairing the siding does not differ in color, it is necessary to purchase material with a margin for the initial plating.

HOW TO REPAIR THE EXTENDED SITE

Due to the uneven shrinkage of the building on the siding of the siding there are swollen areas. It is not difficult to get rid of such a defect: to do this, you need to install a strut between the two parts of the lock. So, you need to repair:

 

hook for mounting;

steel starting strip;

Ruler and pencil.

A steel strip is inserted into the slot formed in the casing and marks are made with a pencil: the first is located near the locking hook of the removed panel, the second is placed near the lock of the lower part. On these marks spend a straight line along the slats and carefully cut off the excess.
