Shiv Hari exhibits magic with a stellar show

The musical blend of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Hariprasad Chaurasia again came to the forefront with a stellar show.  The stage was set for a perfect evening at Prinsep That, Kolkata and the duo just mesmerized the audience with a magical performance. The audience waited with bated breath for the performance to begin and it was just an occasion to remember. As the duo took the stage, a stunned silence gripped the audience.  The serene venue of the Prinsep Ghat acts as an ideal place for organizing such an event of great scale.

Ghanshyam Sarda is one of the most highly recognised business leaders from the city of Kolkata who always promotes these kinds of events. He shares a very strong inclination for music, art and cultural events. Over the years, he has conveyed his interest for Hindusthani classical music at several programs organized in the city.  Around 2,800 strong audience gathered for the occasion in order to make it a success. The duo was also introduced to the audience by none other than famous actor and compere Arjun Chakraborty. A few poetic renditions were also chanted out by him to please the audience. 

As the duo took centrestage, the musical confluence of the flute and the santoor just charmed the audience.  A deafening silence gripped the venue and at first the yaman raga was played the duo. The mellifluous alap of the raga just mesmerized the audience to a great extent.  It was quite an elaborate and slow alap which acted as a great sense of joy to the ears. 

The alap gradually transformed into a jod and Pakhwaj player Pandit Bhawani Shankar provided the perfect musical accompaniment. The other musical accompaniments for the evening were provided by Pandit Subhankar Banerjee on the tabla and Takahiro Arai on the tanpura. 

The various members from the Ghanshyam Sarda Kolkata group attended the event and contributed to its success.  The duo again charmed the audience with a superb display of a great musical confluence. Various taals and bandishes were played out by the duo which made the audience just relish the whole performance. 

Mr. Sarda praised the duo as being the musical incarnations of Lord Shiva and Lord Hari who have descended on earth. The entire evening turned out to be quite magical and some of the notable faces from the music industry of Kolkata like vocalist Pandit Ajay Chakroborty were present.
