Salman Khan and his Funnymen!
Salman Khan is a complete masala Bollywood entertainer. The actor has done a variety of roles, from action to comedy to tragedy to family drama. But he is not alone when it comes to entertaining his audience. The star has had his sidekicks adding to the comic quotient, along with Salman, thus supporting his character and the film in every way.
The recently released ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ saw ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ series fame actor, Deepak Dobriyal play his Salman’s trusted friend Kanhaiya. Other than immortalizing the character Pappi Ji in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, Deepak Dobriyal has also showed his other side in the short film ‘Beraks’. With short films being a rage in 2015, this one is definitely worth the 15 minutes of your busy life. ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ saw the actor par excellence, Nawazzudin Siddiqui as Chand Nawaz who helps his through the second half of the film, along with providing humor as a failed news reporter. Another of his funny sidekick etched to memory is Tsunami from ‘Bodyguard’. Portrayed by director- producer Rajat Rawail, this character was complementary to Salman’s serious Lovely Singh.
But it isn’t just in recent times, Salman has had a funnyman having his back right from his breakthrough film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ where known comedian Laxmikant Berde played the house- help Manohar. Laxmikant Berde also played a similar role as Lalloo Prasad in Salman’s blockbuster hit ‘Hum Aapke Hai Koun’. Salman’s films are famous for much- loved comedians gracing the screen for providing a comic timing required for a full blown Bollywood flick. Johnny Lever is another face that has supported Salman completely in ‘Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai’ and ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’. Late comedian Jaspal Bhatti too starred as a very humble sidekick to the superstar in ‘Jaanam Samjha Karo’ and the lesser known ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’, in his unique way of delivering humor.
One of the most memorable funny sidekicks that Salman has had the chance to work with was Shakti Kapoor. As the loving and faithful sidekick with a speech impediment in ‘Judwaa’, Bollywood’s favorite villain showed off his excellent comic timing in the film. Shakti Kapoor also was Salman’s support in ‘Chal Mere Bhai’. Another excellent comedian that has had the honor to share screen space with Salman is Rajpal Yadav. The weird and eccentric dual roles portrayed by him in ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ definitely was a cracking performance.
While, it isn’t easy to shine very easily in a Salman Khan movie, because of the star’s larger than life presence, these comedians sure have managed to make their marks in these films.
