Controversial short films often bring out the truth!

Short films have taken this era by storm as it is one of the most powerful way to impact the society with the truth and message hidden in it, especially the controversial short films. There are several issues that our society needs to recognize and discuss today, which many people don’t want to face it or make it public. We are blessed with the technology as it has given us the platform to put forward our thoughts and ideas through writing, making short films, photography and many different ways. The filmmakers today are indulging in short films which are controversial  and harsh yet truthful in some or the other sense. 

Be it sex, religion or violence, short films on any of these topics has always raised the eyebrows and are taken as a shock. Not everyone takes a controversial film as a learning or a message, rather it is perceived as an initiative to influence the masses towards a wrong direction. Thus, such films have to go through lot of criticism and bad remarks. But one cannot suppress the truth by doing so. People who are hypocrite, backward and narrow minded, generally opposes such truth revealing films and are always bad mouth about it. One of the famous quotes by Walter Mosley defines this the best.

“A good short story crosses the borders of our nations and our prejudices and our beliefs. A good short story asks a question that can’t be answered in simple terms. And even if we come up with some understanding, years later, while glancing out of a window, the story still has the potential to return, to alter right there in our mind and change everything.” 

We have witnessed many controversial films in Bollywood which have come out beautifully to impress the audience. The thing with the feature films are that they get a market easily to earn money and cater themselves amidst thousands of people. But short films often face lack of resources to present themselves successfully. Over the years, many bold and controversial short films which genuinely focuses on problems, issues and topics that needs to be put forward. Yes, there are many other short films that is made just for cheap popularity or to make money and name, but the ones made by known filmmakers have marked a powerful impact on the society. Filmmakers who doesn’t shy away from the social duties and raise public conscientiousness towards the ongoing social ills affecting the society are often appreciated and acclaimed. These truth telling short films compels one to delve in the thoughts and think on these lines for once. Though it is not sure how far the society has changed due to this but as we know that in our society, when one controversy dies, several more crops up. If the government is able to eradicate one ill, ten more takes place.
