Refurbished products – are they worth?
At times we always wanted to get our hands
on those latest iPhone models or the latest headphones but how many times did
we look into our wallets and reconsidered our decision.
This happens quite a lot with the younger
generation. Not that they couldn’t afford but it is always not possible to hold
that edge of getting a brand new product. Obviously, due to cost constraints.
How many of us during our college might
have looked at second hand shopping websites for some crazy deals offers, to
buy those flashy mobiles, or iPods, or tablets? Well, this doesn’t come as any
surprise as most of us might have passed this stage.
Now assuming, we finally get a best deal on
some nice iPhone that is second hand (otherwise also known as refurbished), are
we not too sceptical about the functionality? This is where the buyer’s
protection comes into place.
Although there are a plenty of refurbished
products available with most of them offering discount coupons or online
offers, the question to be asked is are they really worth it?
Some merchants have their own in house
technical teams that work day in and day out to make those online coupons
really fetch something that is a value add but who can guarantee the
performance of a second hand electronic product.
This is where some merchants put in a lot
of effort to ensure the end customer doesn’t face any issue after buying a
refurbished product and it is precisely for this reason these merchants adopt
to measures such as “merchant verified”.
It is these kind of claims from the
merchants that win the customer confidence while buying a product at a lesser
price even though it is a refurbished one. This is how the merchants advertise
online offers or online coupons and in the process they play their part in getting
a fancy product at a cheaper price.
True that a second product is a second hand
product or which is already used by someone in the past, but the fact remains
that these products most of the times turn out to be as good as new products.
Yes, the warranty is the next question that
anyone will have in mind and as Indian consumers we are very concerned about
warranty on an electrical product because at the end of the day it’s the
consumer’s hard earned money that is getting transformed into an investment.
