Reality Check
Reality check is when we sit down and pause and take a good honest look at our situation.
I have been networking for several years and I am still amazed at all the hype, lies, and deceit found on the internet.
I use several emails so I can keep my personal email manageable. Everyday I receive several hundreds of opportunities of available, ready to go, cash making opportunities.
I can join most of them for free or at least a free trial. I am even more amazed at the millions of people who are taken advantage of through these fabulous opportunities.
Have you noticed that everyone, except you, is making a ton of money? Most in one day or no longer than one week.
The higher end programs will cost you more and tend to keep you in their program longer because your investment is greater.
Are their honest networkers? Sure there are but they are lost and buried in the massive online money making programs.
So in this reality check, let’s take a look at some points to look for.
- They should have been in business at least three years and preferably five years.
- They should have a track record that is easy to follow. Not just a bunch of made up reviews. (Click on the reviewer names and check out their site. You will find a lot of them are not real, not available, or have moved on to something different.)
- Type in keywords that relate to their web site and see if they come up.
- Is the web site about helping you or is it full of corporate hype targeted to sell you their products.
- Be skeptical of the sales pitch. If you have to sign up for something and then get two more people who get two more people, etc., it probably isn’t going to happen.
- Can you build this business without your friends and family?
- You are the CEO of your online business. Run it like a CEO would. (You will soon learn why CEO’s earn so much money.)
- Last point is pick something you love to do and don’t care if you make money or not. For me it is Article Marketing.
A good Reality Check every month is not a bad idea. It will keep you in focus and on target for your online business.
Quit trying to make money and specifically make your niche in the market better. When you get your eyes off of yourself and start looking at how you can make the online community better, then you will be on your way to success.

Neville, thanks for the comment. I never meant the list to be stringent and rigid. Just a few suggestions.
Did you ever notice how everyone is claiming they make money? All that glitters is not gold.
Again, thanks for your input.

This looks to me to be a good Reality Checklist. If I go through each point carefully I note that these are good guidelines for reviewing, but are not necessarily good to apply rigidly.
For example "They should have been in business at least three years and preferably five years" would exclude 95-98% of all businesses, and new, but viable business opportunities would never get enough traction if everyone applied this rule.
For the other points there may also be similar counter arguments. But

I have written several articles on the same theme you wrote here, many people refuse to look at reality, but I think we should keep trying to get the message across, so thanks for your nice piece
