Building On A Budget

Of all the problems and roadblocks in my life, Budgeting, has been the most problematic.
It was a difficult problem to pin down and control because I basically didn't understand the concept of money and how intricately it controls everything.
I used to think, "If I could make a million dollars, then all my problems would be taken care of." This is a very immature and selfish way of thinking. "What is wrong with making a million dollars?", you might ask. Well in short answer, nothing. However, (You knew it was coming, didn't you?), focusing on any dollar amount keeps your answers hidden.
Do you know people who make over a million dollars a year still budget their money? If they want to keep it and use it wisely, they budget.
When computers first came out I decided to write down how I spent every singe penny for one month. What I discovered was that I was spending most of my hard earned money in convenience stores.
It then became easy to control the spending and master this extra amount of money.
Then I started using this technique to control my money I received from my job. Within six months, my wife and I was able to pay off our credit cards, pay our bills, and had started a small savings. We were, "Building On A Budget."
When I started net-working I spent money foolishly thinking I could spend my way into prosperity. I even put my net-working on a budget but much to my dismay, I spent over $10,000 trying to get rich on the internet.
Sound familiar? Then one day, it dawned on me, that I needed to control my net-working and my spending before I wound up in the poor house. So, I got mad and reduced my budget to zero. That's right, zero.
It was at this time that I signed up with Mike Dillard and started to learn how to net-work and do net-working wisely.
I started reading and studying and started applying my knowledge. Slowly but surely, things started to turn. I would get mad and disgusted and quit net-working and close out all my accounts. Slowly, the yearning for Success would creep back in and I would try again.
Now, when I have a "Down Day", I get away from net-working and go do something I enjoy. I have since retired and found out my "Budget" for net-working is next to zero.
Let me drive home one more point. "If You Don't Control The Circumstances, The Circumstances Will Control You."
When you are on, and following a budget, then YOU are controlling the circumstances. My advice is to, "Quit Spending Your Money Trying To Get Rich And Start Budgeting So You Can Control The Circumstances Of Being A Broke, And Failing Networker. Click on the link below to get started:

I just make sure my budget takes advantage of O.P.M. (Other People's (money).

Thanks Teri,
We got tired of being broke and in debt, so several years ago, we started budgeting and got debt free. No we pay cash for everything.

Nnamdi, thanks for the comment. You are right, it is not hard, once you decide to do it.

Thanks for this nice article. The message is universal; failing to plan is planning to fail. Budget is a plan which should not be very hard to prepare and follow.
