Ramesh Menon: An Indian Author, Documentary Filmmaker, Journalist & Corporate Trainer

Many people pursue one interest when it comes to choosing their careers. However, very few combine a variety of different professions, pursuing a bit of each to carve their niche in the society. Being a journalist is one profession, but also being a documentary film maker, author and corporate trainer is another.

Known for his wide collection of documentaries that he has scripted as well as directed, Ramesh Menon is also known for being a reporter of the Times of India, associate editor of India Today,  the executive producer at Business India Television and TV Today and the Roving Editor at rediff.com and a columnist with DNA. 

This well-accomplished man has spent over 37 years in the field of media where he has gained tremendous experience with television channels, newspapers and the news media. His career began as a columnist with the Poona Herald in 1977.  He has also been the Advisor for the Energy and Resources Institute.

Other than these wide numbers of jobs he does, he is also a freelancer for various magazines, newspapers and websites. He is a regular writer for various developmental issues for:

This talented man also is an Adjunct Faculty member of Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune. He is the head faculty of creative writing short-term courses at Sri Aurobindo Center for Arts and Communication, New Delhi, teaches at Jamia Millia Islamia and AJK MCRC, New Delhi.          

Other than this, he has conducted corporate training for many organisations and companies on soft skills. Some of these include Dockendale Ship Management Pvt. Ltd., Airtel, WABCO, DS Group, Dr. Oetkars, rediff.com and News X. He has also been the co-ordinator for the CEC- UGC which produces various educational programs on mass communication.

Some of his noteworthy documentary films include Taj Mahal - Not a Love Story, a 30-minute documentary for the World Bank (Directed, Scripted and Produced); Climate Change- a short film that was showcased at COP-8 in New Delhi (Directed and Scripted); The Slow Poisoning of India-a 26 minute film on pesticide poisoning in agriculture and the damage it does as chemicals get into our food cycle (Directed & Scripted) and A New Dawn in the Himalayas –a 24 minute film that was supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (Directed and Scripted).
