Qiblatain Mosque in Madinah

by Ady Grewal Content writer
Qiblatain Mosque has great importance for Muslims. It was built by Sawad bin Ghanam bin Kaab (RA) during the second year of Hijra. Indeed, this is the Mosque wherein the message of God revealed to change the direction of Qiblah from Bait Al-Maqdis to Kaabah. The Mosque Qiblatain is one of the earliest mosques in Islamic history, after the Quba Mosque and Masjid Al-Nabwi. For several years it has undertaken frequent renewal and expansion projects, which resultantly stretched the mosque’s total area to 4000 square meters.

Because of its past significance, the mosque appeals a lot of visitors. Likewise Masjid al-Haram, Qiblatain Mosque is crowded by believers throughout the day. During the major or minor pilgrimage, thousands of pilgrims who avail best Umrah travel agent UK visit the mosque. Masjid Qiblatain has two mehrabs. One in the direction of Bait-al-Maqdis and the other towards Masjid Al-Haram. However, the first mihrab has now been protected.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) long time prayed that Qiblah might change towards Kaabah instead of Bait Al-Maqdis. Eventually, the pray of Muhammad (SAW) became fruitful by the grace of Allah-Almighty. And one-day Jibrael (AS) came with the message of God and gave to the Muhammad (SAW) during the Salah, “Verily, We have seen the turning of your face towards the heaven and certainly We shall turn you to a Qiblah which shall please you. Thus, turn your face towards Al-Masjid Al-Haram instead of Masjid Al-Aqsa and whosesoever you follow let turn their faces in the same direction as well.”

During the prayer, the Messenger of God at once turned his face towards the Masjid Al-Haram. The Companions of Muhammad (SAW) also turned their faces by following him. Thus, the direction (Qiblah) was fixed for the Muslims for all times and it will never be changed.

Therefore that was the day of blisses for the Muslims meanwhile mourning for the Jews because the prediction of changing the Qiblah from the last Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had been proved in the old religious books of Jews. Moreover, it also stamped the end of Prophecy. Thus, the Messenger of God surely fixed the Qiblah to the House of God (Kaabah) which was constructed by his forefather.

So, the heads of Jews requested Muhammad (SAW) let not change the Qiblah of Bait-ul-Maqdis even they were agreed to follow the Islam. Meanwhile, God said to Muhammad (SAW) that they are a liar and will never accept Islam. So, you must not fulfill their desire. That’s why Jews began to grow closer to the hypocrites and the polytheists when their desire was not fulfilled. Numerous Hypocrites reverted to either Judaism or paganism, so the ranks of the Muslims purified started to purify.

Imam Ahmed narrated from Aisha (RA) that the Messenger of God said: “The People of the Book do not bitterness us for anything as Jews do for the Friday bestowed us by God which they are deprived. They also envy us for the Qiblah which God granted us but not them, and also for the Ameen (recital after Surah Fatiha in Salah) behind the Imam.
