When you are traveling by train, there is a thing called Passenger Name Record, which in a short form is known as PNR. It is a record database system, which is stored and reserved in a computerized version to maintain the itinerary of the passengers that are travelling by a particular train.

The parts of PNR

There are basically five parts of a PNR status of a passenger. These are very much needed to complete a booking for journey. They are

ü  The name of the passenger

ü  Contact details of the travel agent if the booking is done through them

ü  The ticket number or a ticketing time limit

ü  Itinerary for the entire passengers list

ü  Name of the person who is booking the ticket and providing the information

When the booking is completely done, the computer record will automatically issue a numeric recorded number, which will remain same even if any changes are made in the booking. In fact, there are also fare details and the amount of tax paid for the ticket mentioned.

How to find PNR?

The PNR number is usually a 10-digit number located on the E-ticket receipt. The first three digits refer to the company, who stocks the ticket. The next 6 digits show the passenger name record. It is very easy to locate your PNR number. If a ticket is booked online, the passenger will also receive an e-mail, which clearly states the PNR status and number of the concerned passenger.
