Planning Now For An Autumn Break

Summer in the UK can easily seem to be a particularly fleeting affair. The country is not blessed with the best climate in the northern hemisphere, but at the same time, its residents and the millions of visitors who come into the country every year pay little regard for this, and are happy to take their chances with the weather, in order to give themselves and their family a chance to get away from their regular drudge and routine.

Worse still, it can often seem – and statistics can prove this – that the UK enjoys something of an 'Indian summer', which occurs once the children have returned to school, and when the days are seen to be getting noticeably shorter.

So one way of cocking a snook at the vagaries of the British weather which is becoming increasingly popular is for adults, in particular, to take themselves off on an autumn break.

The advantages of doing so are numerous and increasingly recognised, and include:

- the chance to explore traditional British holiday locations at a time when the rush has subsided, so making it easier to take the chance to explore and sample all the attractions at a leisurely pace

- opportunities to take advantage of off-peak rates at hotels and for travel, meaning that the equivalent of a high season holiday can be enjoyed for a much more budget-friendly price

- the chance to get much more attentive service at your chosen hotel or holiday base, thanks to the staff having more time to attend to your needs, and workers at shops and attractions also being able to do likewise

- a chance to visit parts of the country which look especially good in the autumn, thanks to the changing colours of the leaves on the trees, and the different character which the landscape adopts as a result

- quieter roads and other transport routes to many major attractions, due to the high season having passed, and

- the chance to even make the most of group saving offers of the kind made available through many websites for add-on events and treats, which are at more usual peak holiday times more quickly sold out or oversubscribed.

There can be many advantages to taking a late-year break, including the above, but above all, they provide an opportunity to have a rest and take stock ahead of the start of the frantic run-up to Christmas, which can often pass in a whirl of activity.

As a result, the colours, bracing air, uncrowded locations in the heart of the countryside or right by the sea, make autumn an ideal time for discovering more about a country which you might think you know, but which reveals much more of itself once the masses of visitors have gone.

This explains why Autumn hotel breaks at Warner Leisure have such a large following, and are a highly popular way of easing the passage between the end of summer and the onset of winter, with the dark nights and colder days ahead.

Autumn also makes a great time for a holiday break, because it can be a time of year used by operators to test out ideas for their forthcoming new year programmes. So you might even get a glimpse of some new attractions or events which have not yet even been publicised as part of an operator's main programme.

For whatever reason you choose an Autumn or late-year holiday break, it has lots of reasons to recommend it which make it stand out from a getaway during the peak season.
