Parents prepare for formal school admission

by Nitin Saini Digital Marketing Expert

Preparation for school admissions start way before the year or an academic session gets over in India. So, if you are a parent of a child of age group 3+years or a parent of a teenager planning to change your child's school, this is a difficult time of the year for you.

during formal school admission in Delhi for various classes, few schools conduct the most dreaded tests while few conduct interviews ( especially for admission to junior grades). Performance in these tests and interviews directly impacts the prospects of your child's education and career in the long run. Many teachers, who are involved in Nursery school Admission in Delhi, explicitly mention that formal school admission in Delhi can be a stressful and a herculean task for both parent and children. Below are a few tips to help you sail through this period and not have sleepless nights:

1)   Research   Is Pertinent:

Knowing beforehand the school culture, basic information about the school, school management and value system and parameters on which they judge your child's performance, is beneficial. Know well about their facilities such as the tennis court, football/ basketball court, swimming pools, laboratories, indoor auditoriums, science and computer and other facilities in place. Only if you are convinced with their amenities and other infrastructures beside academic records, then only take up the work to prepare yourself, for formal school admissions in Delhi or in any other urban city in India. When you meet the principal or other interviewers show your eagerness about the school and take interest in knowing more.

2) Comportment Matters:

Be confident of yourself and your child. Parents should be formally dressed.. If your child is never been interviewed by any adult before, it could be nerve-wracking experience, especially during nursery school admission in Delhi -NCR. Doing background preparations is recommended before appearing for any interview. Analyze and keep your answers ready for the interviewer. Body language conveys a lot of meaning. You should be attentive and be interested in the conversation. Maintaining good posture, verbal cues, gestures and eye contact also matters a lot.

 3) Awareness:

It is important for the child to be aware of the happenings around. Make sure he/she is confident and ready to talk about recent happenings in the world and give views about the same. They usually check the confidence of the child and how well their interpersonal skills are. As a parent, you need to be ready with the answer of certain questions, like why you want to change the school of your child and why you would prefer their school among others, during the Formal School Admission in Delhi and other metropolitan cities in India. Read the headlines in the newspaper on the day of interaction. Both parents should be aware of, the  child’s interest (likes & dislikes, behavioral pattern),each other’s educational qualifications and  interests (likes & dislikes) .

4) Do not over coach them:

There are parents who are making their children get coaching from professionals in order to prepare their kids for these school interviews. School authorities do not appreciate it and are usually wary of such applicants. Schools are looking for natural talents of the students. Instead just prepare students to speak politely and explain their interest areas and hobbies, etc. this is how they will come out as genuine as they want.

5) Little anxiety is good, but don’t stress out:

For both parents and children a little anxiety can be good for better performance, however; do not stress yourself to the level of panic. Make sure your child has slept well before the interview day. Don’t overload the child’s mind with too much information. Keeping your child up-to-date and well-mannered is not an overnight’s work. At the end, let them just be themselves during formal school admission in Delhi or in any other city this academic year.

Remember school wants to know the real child, their innate qualities, values, talents and not the poised version. All the best!
