Silk is a fine thread which is produced from silkworms by spinning. Mulberry is basically of pure white coloured fabric.

Producing a pure Mulberry silk saree is really a hardcore process which involves in painstaking steps.

Weavers first extract raw silk by farming the silkworms on mulberry leaves. They immerse them into boiled water for 3 to 4 weeks. Once the worms start pupating in their cocoons and a fine thread will be produced by making use of spinning reel.

Here, to make the produced raw silk sufficiently strong, weavers prepare weaving or knitting. The silk yarn will be produced and they prevent the thread from splitting.

Weavers produce the silk named “Bombyx Mori” through Mulberry Silk moth.

Through dyeing, weavers use harmony colours and immerse the fabric into required colour. Then it will be washed and dried.

Finally, Mulberry silk of lustrous, durable and 30% lighter fabric will be obtained.

Block printing, floral working and ajrakh printing are the major printings designed intricately on these sarees. The patterns and motifs such as flowers, animals, birds, pyramid styles and other geometrical structures are intricately woven by the weavers.
