Thar. This open jeep runs with equal ease on both uneven terrains as

Thar is available
in three models in the market to make it suitable for almost all types of
requirements and preferences. These three models have been named as Mahindra Thar DI 4X2, Mahindra Thar DI 4X4 and Mahindra Thar
4X4. Of these three models, Mahindra Thar DI 4X2 is the most economically
priced jeep model. Mahindra Thar DI 4X4 is four-wheeled model of the more
elaborate Mahindra Thar. Mahindra Thar 4X4 is the most lavish of all Thar
models offering premium driving experience consistently. Mahindra motors have
maintained the classic old-school look in Thar by including the grille and
circular headlights within the bonnet. These features give away a sense of
familiarity to the jeep, which Jeep enthusiasts can understand who have
witnessed the glorious era of Mahindra Jeeps. The front portion of the jeep have
not been changed much to preserve that desirable classic look. Its broad wheels
ensure a comfortable and smooth off-road travel experience. The entire body is
designed with the aim to minimize the exertion while traveling on a bumpy terrain.
The heavy-duty body of Thar makes even the remote places quite accessible to
people. The ranges of vibrant colors available in the model include Arctic
White, Diamond White, Champagne,
Mist Silver and Rocky Beige among others.
The engine is designed to accentuate the power generation and overall
torque to ensure a comfortable journey even in the worst of conditions. The two
types of engines available in Mahindra Thar are CRDe and DI. The DI engine
comes with a 5-speeed manual transmission and 2 - speed gear reduction. Choice
is also provided in between 2WD and 4WD with DI engine. The ratio gradient lies
in the range of high ratio of 1.0:1 to 2.46:1. Its CRDe engine is inter-cooled
and turbocharged engine which offers a 5 -speed manual transmission. CRDe
yields total power generation of 105 bhp at about 3800 rpm. A maximum torque of
247 Nm is generated at 1800-2000 rpm. The CRDe engine comes with a Euro 4
variant demonstrating a displacement of 2498cc. The impressive mileage of this
jeep lies in the range of 11 – 13.5 km/l with CRDe engine. The DI engine offers
a displacement of 2523cc and the estimated mileage can go up to 16 km/l. The
quick pick – up facilitated by Thar makes the jeep race up to 140 km/hr within
19 seconds.
