by Soumya Mohanty Consultant

To all those who are expecting to buy their dream car this year and if Xylo happens to be one of them, then this year Mahindra will add to their joy of festivities of Diwali. Mahindra and Mahindra has planned big to introduce the compact version of its famous multi purpose vehicle, Xylo around Diwali this year.

The all new revived Xylo will be available in options of five variants and the entry level compact MPV will be priced within a range of 7.37 lakhs and the premium model E9 will be priced 10.25 lakhs and most importantly this year, Xylo will be marking the sixth launch from the Mahindra Group.

The all new compact Mahindra Xylo is going to be costlier by a margin of just 15000 rupees than the previous edition of Xylo. The all new version of Xylo is expected to be in direct competition with the Japanese major Toyota’s Innova that in comparison is costlier than Xylo by a margin of 3 lakhs and gives lesser output in terms of mileage.

2013 version of the all new Xylo boasts of averaging a maximum output of up to 14 kilometers per litre in terms of mileage and comes redesigned with over 50 styling changes. Along with this, new Xylo also offers better torque and a peak power at 120 bhp in comparison to Toyota Innova that averages only up to 105 bhp of power.Leaving all features behind, the most outstanding feature of all new Mahindra Xylo compact version is that of the voice command technology that controls headlamps, doors and wipers which is adopted for the first ever by an auto giant and is being developed internally and patented in-house. Xylo also features 15 security warnings that will be exhibited only in the high end variant of E9 model apart from the superior Hawk engine.

As far as the external features are concerned, the all new Xylo dons a brand new look that exhibits new front image with redesigned head lamps, new bumper, fresh grill and bonnet, prominent wheel arches along with fresh footstep and redesigned mud-flaps. With such prominent features, the company sources claim that the Mahindra is not bothered if the new Xylo takes away the market share of XUV500 because the company is fine till its products are being sold

Ignoring any kind of grabbing the market share, the all new Xylo rules over a market share of about 60 percent in the SUV segment that belongs to the price range of below 8 lakhs. Moreover, after Toyota’s Innova, Mahindra’s Xylo also has a share of whopping 27 percent in the overall SUV segment, which is the main reason of competing against the Japanese car major’s best selling model.

Interestingly, the decision of launching its compact Xylo around the time of Diwali celebrations is seen as an intelligent move by Mahindra & Mahindra as the festivity time of Diwali is considered to be an auspicious time and it will surely prove to be a boost to the Indian car market.
