League of Legends: A Real Legend in the Gaming World

Fan of video games? Then you must have heard of League of legends or LOL (as the fans like to call it). It is one of the most popular video games in the world. There are world tournaments held for the players from all around the world. It has been one of the most watched eSport in the world. These tournaments attracted millions and millions of audiences. What is League of Legends?

-          Released on October 27^th, 2009.

-          It is a fast-paced online video game that combines the features of RTS (Real Time Strategy) and RPG (Role Playing Games).

-          They are available to play on Macs and Windows PCs. They are free to play with an in-game currency that is earned by playing.

-          It is a team-based game. The players login with an in-game name called as the summoner name.

-          Before the game starts, the players are grouped into a team of five players. The players can be your friends or strangers.

-          Each player is a unique character. That character lasts till the end of the game.

-          The rest is the same as any game in which there is one winner and one looser.

-          The time duration of every match is from 30 minutes to an hour. It strictly depends on the nature of the match.

-          League of legends is a multiplayer online based arena (MPOA) game. it consists of three game modes: Summoner’s Rift, Twisted Treeline and Howling Abyss.

-          The character (in these game modes) that a player controls is called champions.

Game types:

There are various game types available to the players. The following are the names:

-          The tutorial: First game type available to new player.

-          Co-op Vs. Al: Available to new players once they complete or opt out of tutorial.

-          Normal Matchmaking: Uses automated match making system to pair teams. 

-          Ranked Matchmaking: Available to players on reaching level 30.

-          Custom Games: Player can play on any map with any team combination.

There are three ways in which the teams may choose the champions they will play for a match:

-          Blind Pick

-          Draft Pick

-          Random Pick

There are 138 champions as on 23 August 2017. The game uses an in-game currency that can be purchased in the client store. The currency is called Riot Points (RP).

As stated above, there are tournaments held. In these tournaments various players compete in the game of League of Legends. These tournaments not only have a massive audience but also offer a million dollars as the prize that the pros take home. Thanks to eSports earnings.
