England’s win in their first match was clearly on the cards until the last minute goal by Russia seized their draw the Group B game ended 1-1 yesterday in Marseille. Eric Dier was the first one to open the scoreline by scoring from an outstanding free kick in the 73rd minute. They were all set to take that home with a margin of one goal but a last goal by Vasili Berezutski salvaged a dramatic goal and the match turned out to be a draw.

Roy men will now hope to perform well against their next group match against their neighbors Wales while Russia will prepare for Slovakia who suffered a defeat against Wales in their first group match courtesy Gareth Bale.

Unexpectedly Vardy and Wilshere were on the bench and Rooney and Adam Lallana were given the opportunity to control the mid-field of the three lions.

Alli and Kane linked up for another chance not long after as the former headed into the path of his Tottenham team-mate but Kane couldn't quite stretch to get his foot to the ball and it rolled wide. England kept the pressure on their opponents as Chris Smalling headed the ball into the hands of Akinfeev before Russia tested Joe Hart for the first time in a similar fashion, with Sergei Ignashevich rising to head into the palms of the England goalkeeper.

Russia came back strongly in the second half, but 20 minutes to play they got an opportunity, inches away from the penalty area. With Rooney, Kane and Dier standing near the ball the heart of Akinfeev was already in his mouth. Kane ran over the ball giving Dier an opportunity to score and he did no mistake.

They then started dirty game, wasting time to bag those three easy point but destiny had some other plans. Captain Berezutski scored a goal from an outstanding header seconds after a clearance of the corner. It was a cruel blow for England who had dominated much of the match and must now turn their focus to Thursday's clash with group leaders Wales.

Although England are the favorites to top the group but still Wales will take best out of them. With players like Bale in the squad you can expect anything from the Wales.
