“I honestly get to a point where there are no words to describe it. A 9-year-old boy like this a batboy, he has touched everyone.” The Liberal Bee Jay’s third baseman and catcher Brady Cox somberly continued, “He has touched me in more ways than I could imagine.” Cox was talking about Kaiser Carlile, a batboy who was struck in the head by a practice swing and failed to recover while in the hospital. Young Carlile died on Sunday, and the team was informed after their shutout win that night.

Kelby Tomlinson is a former Liberal Bee Jay. The collegiate summer league team had great success with Tomlinson on the team. In fact, he led the team to a national championship in 2010. The incident that took Carlile’s life impacted Tomlinson because he is so tied with the collegiate summer league team. Looking for a way to pay tribute to the young boy of 9 years, Tomlinson decided that he would dedicate his first hit as a Major League Baseball player. While playing for the San Francisco Giants, Tomlinson posted a video of his first hit and continued it with photos of Kaiser Carlile. The rookie sensation made a classy move and fans noticed.

Jeff Hill and his family are all huge fans of the San Francisco Giants. Seeing what rookie Tomlinson did in tribute for Kaiser Carlile. Hill and all Giants fans have another reason to root for their team. They know that they are just players, but people with hearts.
