Jeff Hill’s time at Reedley College and his Associates Degrees in Plant Science and Agriculture Business whetted his appetite for the field, and he enrolled at California State University in Fresno, known as Fresno State.  Still within a three hour drive of either Los Angeles or San Francisco, Fresno State enrolls over 23,000 students and offers 4 year Bachelor’s Degrees in 60 disciplines, 45 master’s degrees, 3 doctoral degrees and various certificates in advanced studies and teaching credentials.

Fresno State is unique in its student-made wines and commercial winery, its campus vineyards, and its top-ranked equestrian team.   Beginning life as Fresno State Normal School in 1911, Fresno State joined the California State University System in 1961, and became the California State University in 1972. Unique in its resources for the study of agricultural systems, Fresno State offers the University Farm, a center for student-run equine, swine, beef, dairy, poultry and sheep concentrations as well as cattle rangeland for cattle.  Fresno State is known throughout the West as one of the finest of agricultural study facilities.  The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, along with 9 other Colleges of specialized study, attracted Jeff Hill to the serious pursuit of his Bachelors of Science in Plant Science with an emphasis on Plant Health and Agronomy.

Fresno State was ranked 141st out of 700 schools in the country by Money magazine in its Best Colleges ranking in 2015.  Fresno State was also ranked 15th in the Social Mobility index in the United States.   Fresno State tied for 12th for U.S. News & World Report’s public regional universities of the West.
