by Kriben Govender Health Advisor
Today more than ever, there seems to be an increasing concern on the gut health and thus gut health diet specialists have been speaking of adding a probiotic diet in lifestyles. But why? May be because there are so many things that we eat that most of the junk foods consumed by us cause imparity in the microbes which lead to the several health issues that we find happening in our bodies. Moreover, they know that certain microbial strains might positively impact upon the health. But what are Probiotics? To define them easily, they are basically the good or beneficial bacteria that are present in the human body which perform tasks like breaking down of food compounds, helping in absorption of the nutrients and preventing the bad bacteria from causing harm to the body.  Having consumed these probiotics, we allow them to travel in the gastrointestinal tract and hence colonize. They then produce enzymes as well as vitamins which help in keeping the immune system healthy.

The Bacteria That Maintain Good Health

1.    The first probiotic bacterium that deserves to be mentioned here is found in milk, yogurt and fermented foods of the like. The bacteria is named Lactobacillus which prevents diarrhea, colic in babies lung infections, colitis which are characterized by the ulcers, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, infections in vagina in women (which are caused by bad bacteria and eczema).
2.    The second following the first is Bifidobacterium again found in dairy products like yogurt, curd and cheese. It has been studied that Bifidobacterium helps ease constipation, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Ulcerative colitis and Lung Infections.

Probiotic Diet

There are certain probiotic foods that have great advantages on the human body, which are fairly spoken of by most if not all gut health diet specialists. Here are a few you could add to your regular diet plan:
1.    Yogurt, rich in the aforementioned bacteria, yogurt or curd is a must in case you are suffering from constipation, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Ulcerative colitis etc.
2.    Kefir is an Eastern European and western Asian dietary staple made by breaking down the lactose compound present in goat and sheep milk.
3.    Miso is an Asian cuisine, which is formed by the fermentation of soybeans and brown rice. It is rich in Lactobacillus Acidophilus.
4.    Natto is prepared by fermenting soybeans and is a major source of Bacillus Subtilis, which maintains over-all health.

There are many other such diets such as Kombucha, etc. which are rich in probiotic. You may find many other such diet charts through various sources but if you are looking for specialized diet chart to keep yourself hale and hearty, visit Specialist Gut Nutritionist in Australia.
