Keep It Cool During the Summer

by Kevin Smith Author

Some of the best ways to cool down during the dog days of summer include iced beverages and ice cream, finding the shade and a cool breeze, visiting the local watering hole or pool, and turning the air conditioning in Buford, GA, all the way up to 11 (because it's one more than 10). You don't have to look cool to be cool, you just have to find the way to cool down that works for you, or at least, that's available.

Beverages and Ice Cream

Depending on your age and where you live the cooling drink of choice might be different. Some people prefer a nice, tall, refreshing glass of some down home sweet tea. Others enjoy some fresh-squeezed lemonade with a little sugar to balance the tartness. Some turn to sodas and sports drinks. Children love Kool-Aid, especially the traditional flavors of red and purple. In some countries, people drink hot drinks in the summer to raise their core body temperature making it feel colder outside. Whatever your preference is, the best drink on hot days is a glass of water. Replenish your H2O levels without all the calories and allow your body to keep itself cool. The calories you save in liquid form can be eaten as ice cream!

A Cool Breeze

Heading out on a warm day and finding the right tree to sit under while feeling a cooling breeze is a time-tested way to bring relaxation and joy back to your life. Turn the phone off and spend time with someone you love or read a good book. Just check the heat index and bring plenty of water; it's hot enough on some days that going outside can be dangerous, especially for older people.

Take a Swim

Jumping in a pool or heading to the local watering hole can be a great way to bring down the temperature. Water has a cooling effect, especially if it is a natural pond or lake. Just be sure that you stay safe at your chosen swim area and bring plenty of water to drink.

Your AC

If you have air conditioning in Buford, GA, you might just opt to stay inside and turn that thing up. Your AC is designed to keep your home cooler, and you can certainly benefit from it. Just be sure that you have it checked before the hot season starts, so that it runs efficiently and well.
