IS HORIZON AIR THE SAME AS ALASKA AIR?

orizon Air was formed in return to the Airlines Deregulation Act of 1978. One of the reasons for implementing this act was that many leading airlines abandoned flight roués within the Northwest. To fill this gap in the industry, famous entrepreneur Milt Kuolt and its group of venture capitalists in September 1981 established Horizon in Seattle. Horizon brought together 36 dedicated, professional employees and its service started between Yakima, Seattle, Pasco.

GROWTH WITHIN ALASKA AIRLINES

In 1986, the Alaska Airlines record attracted hundreds of larger airlines. At last, the Horizon was acquired by Seattle- based Alaska Airlines. Horizon Air has increased the competitive benefit of connections with Alaska Airlines. Along with Alaska Airlines, Horizon also shares its code with a wide range of other partner airlines.

On Jan1, 2011, Horizon Air shifted to a capacity purchase agreement business model, which is considered as a regional airlines industry standard. According to this agreement, Horizon Air operates and maintains its flights while Alaska Air Reservations is responsible for marketing, scheduling and pricing all the flights. This change also included the rebranding of all Horizon flights to feature the Alaska Airlines.

Today, Horizon Air maintains an operational fleet of 52 Bombardier Q400 aircraft with an average age of at least 10 years. Horizon Air has almost 4000 professional employees and serves more than 45 amazing cities in Alaska, Idaho, California, Washington, Alberta, Colorado, Montana, Utah, British Colombia and Canada. This major airline has a general office in Seattle and primary office in Portland, Oregon along with some extra maintenance benefits in Idaho, Boise, Washington, Oregon, Medford, etc.

In early 1984, Horizon Air has become a public company with an initial stock offering of 750000 shares.
