“Interstellar” Actress Jessica Chastain Will Play the Role of Tammy Wynette in a Limited Series

The limited series will be jointly produced by Spectrum, Paramount Network, and ViacomCBS Streaming Service in which Jessica Chastain will play the role of country music legend Tammy Wynette.

The series is currently titled “George & Tammy.” It will have nine months of the exclusive stream for Spectrum subscribers, and after that, it will arrive on the windows of ViacomCBS forthcoming streaming service and Paramount Network.

The series will follow the relationship of power couple Wynette and George, who did have their struggle but that inspired some of the most legendary music in American history.

The series will explore the aspects of the book written by their daughter Georgette Jones titled “The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George.” Abe Sylvia has penned the script and will also executive produce the series alongside Andrew Lazar, Josh Brolin, and Chastain. Representing 101 Studios, Bob Yari and Bryan Goluboff will executive produce the series.

Renowned as the “First Lady of Country Music,” Wynette has created innumerable masterpieces such as “Stand by Your Man” (considered as one of the greatest songs ever sung by a female artist). She shared a turbulent marriage with George Jones which gave birth to some iconic duet songs such as “We’re Gonna Hold On,” “Golden Ring,” and “Near You.” Her solo songs topped the charts many times and etched her name as one of the most influential women in the music industry to have ever existed.

The head of the Spectrum Originals, Katherine Pope, enthused about the project in a statement and said that the script penned by Abe was so riveting that she never got it out of her head. She also revealed a sense of pride to work with the incredible “dream” team of 101 studios, Paramount Network, all the producers, and partners. She concluded her statement by saying that she wants to get the story in front of the audience as soon as possible.

Although Jessica Chastain had started her career as a tv actress, she had moved towards the film industry in the last decade. She has some iconic films credited to her in her resume. She has played important roles in films like Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty, and The Help. The later most won her the Academy Award nomination for Best Actress and the investigative epic Zero Dark Thirty won her Academy Award nomination for the Best Supporting Actress.

Her most recent projects include films include “It: Chapter 2” (based on a novel by Stephen King), “Miss Sloane,” and “Molly’s Game.”

The actress’s representatives are CAA, Mosaic, and Hansen Jacobson.

The President of ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Studios, Keith Cox, also expressed his excitement for the project and expressed a firm belief in Jessica Chastain’s acting virtuosity to bring forward a complex drama tale about two great musicians.

The new streaming service of ViacomCBS has been planned to be released in 2021, where it will start by displaying content of some Paramount films, CBS All Access, CBS, MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon.
