The city of Kolkata is gearing up for a big change. A clean city drive has been launched in the city recently. Ghanshyam Sarda is one of the most recognized industrialists from the city of Kolkata. He has been a part of some of the major events in the city and promotes them with great enthusiasm. As one of the pioneer leaders from the city of Kolkata he always promotes successful ventures. The event has been organized in association with Lions Club Regency Kolkata.
The Lions Club International has a collection of 60 clubs across the city. An overall presence of 2,500 members makes it one of the strongest clubs in the city. The clean city drive campaign has been launched in the month of December and derives support from some of the important citizens of the city.
In the city of Kolkata more than 5732 tonnes of waste is produced in a single day. As per the clean city campaign drive enthusiasts it will take a year or so to make the campaign successful. According to the recent initiative which has been taken small steps will be a part of the entire project. The clean city drive will slowly take shape and make the city more proper for living.
The members of the Ghanshyam Sarda Kolkata group are quite keen about the project. The campaign will initially cover a ward each and clean the city in the whole process. Trash bins will be put up in each of the wards of the city.
As per a recent study by SAFE, ( South Asian Forum For Environment), among the 5,372 tonnes of waste, 1900 tonnes needs to be recycled. The remaining waste goes to the center in Dhapa. After the cleaning process is undertaken, the next step will revolve around recycling.
As per the cleaning enthusiasts from the group, just putting up the trash bins properly would not provide a solution to the problem. It is imperative to understand the real reason behind littering. The absence of bins in many localities stands out as one of the major problems.
Social media campaigns are already a part of the clean city drive. By putting information on social media sites like Facebook, these types of campaigns can be organized in a far better way. The project will emphasize on suggestions and complaints put on the digital media platform.
