IMSI With IVF-Meaning And Procedure

IMSI stands for intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection. IMSI is a technique implemented in IVF treatment for examining and selecting sperm with the help of a high-magnification digital imaging microscope. It is similar to intracytoplasmic sperm injection where a single sperm gets injected into an egg.  The difference between both of them is that the sperm is selected with the help of a very powerful microscope as compared to the ICSI microscope. During IMSI, the sperm's image gets magnified around 6000 times so that the embryologist should analyze it with more detail and opt for the healthiest-looking one to inject.

During the procedure, fertility drugs are prescribed to the female to encourage the production of eggs in the ovaries. Once the leading follicle in an ovary develops to near about 17-22 mm, the eggs are validated to get collected. There is a possibility regarding embryos to get transferred at any stage from the second to sixth day after the preliminary procedure. At the end of the overall process, embryos must reach the blastocyst stage within five to six days.
