Express entry can be considered as a program that accelerates your immigration process to Canada. If you or any of your family members want to go to Canada stay there as a permanent resident or even work or study there then it won’t be wrong to say that express entry is probably the most suitable option you have.

Knowing express entry briefly

IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) use Canada express entry program as an application management system for managing as well as processing received applications for skilled workers. This system of immigration is quite competitive, where applicants are ranked and the highest-ranking individuals get invited to apply for permanent residents in Canada.

The following factors are checked in order to rank the candidates:

•  Age of the candidate

•  His or her education

•  Language efficiency

•  Work experience etc

Express Entry immigration program can play an important role in settling you or your family member to Canada within a short period of time like few months.

Determining eligibility

Followings are some federal economic immigration programs aligned with express entry and if you can’t get through the eligibility test under one of these programs then you won’t be allowed to apply.

•  FSWC (Federal Skilled Worker Class)

•  CEC (Canadian Experience Class)

•  FSTC (Federal Skilled Trades Class)

Though some PNPs (Provincial Nominee Programs) are also aligned with express entry, the above mentioned federal programs will still be considered as the primary way for entering the express entry pool and the candidates need to meet the requirements of one of the programs in order to be eligible, so they can apply for permanent resident status in Canada.

Creating a profile

Once, you are invited to the express entry pool you need to create as well as submit your express entry profile. Your profile which can be considered as the EOI (Expression of Interest) decides how much score you will receive and the rank you will end up with.

You will be ranked through CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) where you can score up to 1,200 points. The highest scorers will get an ITA (Invitation to Apply). An individual candidate has the chance to improve his or her rank by improving their CRS score.

While ranking, the Comprehensive Ranking System considers the following things

• The career history of the candidate

• His or her educational background

• Language skills

• Do they already have a qualifying job offer

• Have they received a provincial nomination

Being an applicant, you can also obtain additional points if a registered Canadian employer has already hired you for a valid job or if you got a provincial nomination.

Receiving an ITA (Invitation to Apply)

Generally, after every two weeks, express entry draws are conducted by IRCC and they invite candidates with secure rank to apply for permanent residence in Canada. If in case you do not get the invitation then your express entry profile will stay valid for 12 months and you are allowed for submitting a new profile within this period.

Submitting the application

After receiving an ITA, you have to submit your application electronically within 60 days. The application must contain requisite personal information and other supporting documents.
