Identification and Preference of Cinema Visitors

by Rachel Willy Marketing Manager

This article presents the results of a selective study of theatrical visitors' motivations and preferences — this survey conducted by Talk to Regal in a local cinema. Most of the respondents are young.

In today's world, entertainment services are becoming increasingly popular. Although not related to basic services, the demand for these services is rising rapidly, which has a positive impact on the development of the entertainment market.

The most important factor in the dynamic development of the entertainment market is the increase in leisure time created by modern technology, saving time in many ways.

The theater is one of the most popular entertainment services in United States. New York, has during the last century one of the world's largest films, including one of the largest film distribution systems. The market for modern theaters does not start from scratch. The city of New York has eight different biggest theaters located in different parts of the city, each with its characteristics.

A film research study in early 2015 showed that cinemas released in the US in 2014 did not develop for the first time this year.

According to analysts, USA sold 250 million film cards in 2014, down 0.2% from 2013.

For these reasons, a statistical study was decided to determine the presence of consumer motivations and preferences, and to evaluate the city's theater.

To achieve this goal, a survey was conducted in the form of a questionnaire because it is suitable for respondents (time saved) and researchers (the convenience of treatment). The questionnaire included 15 questions, most of which were closed. The questionnaire was placed on a social network. Part of the answer was received during the oral registration of residents in the city streets.

The respondents were residents of New York city. A total of 120 people aged 19 and over participated in the study, of which 33% were men and 67% women.

When recording survey data, all information is grouped by age group. Most of the respondents were young people aged 19-24 because they had more leisure time, were more socially active, and were more interested in modern films.

Respondents identified several selection criteria for frequent cinemas based on these criteria. Most people have determined the quality of image and sound (45%), and the respondents also begin with space, cost, and habits. Half of the respondents prefer the Regal Cinema Battery Park (50%). The theater is located in the heart of the city and is also one of the most modern multifunctional theaters in New York and offers a wider range of services. 10% of respondents chose the epicenter.

Respondents to this study did not take into account the quality of the regal cinema, but most of them still regard it as a means, even though those who think it is quite large (45%).

However, 65% of respondents do not want to change theater, although at least 30% are dissatisfied with the quality of service.

Although most people today have access to the Internet and the ability to watch or download movies online for free, most respondents go to the cinema to watch new movies. At the same time, 95% of the respondents are interested in cinema.

The study shows that even theaters in the entertainment market are often performed between theaters, theaters, restaurants, cafes, museums, art galleries, nightclubs and bars.

Of the total number of respondents, 43% chose a theater, which indicates that the topic is relevant because the demand for the theater is high. Despite this, the number of cinema visitors in 2014 has fallen compared to previous years, but these types of entertainment services are still in high demand.
