Hyundai Tucson — Your SUV with Style and Innovation

Hyundai Motor introduced the Hyundai Tucson in 2004 featuring a masculine appearance with wraparound headlights, LED center brake light, and the Hyundai Logo held by a single-bar grille, boasting a 5-star safety rating.

1st Generation

The Hyundai Tucson was first launched in 2004 and fitted with 3 engine options: 2.0L Beta II I4, 2.7L Delta V6 petrol engines, and the 2.0L CRDi I4 diesel. These engines are paired with a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, or 4-speed automatic transmission. The first-generation Tucson is offered as GL/GLS/Limited trims with standard features including 6 airbags, electronic stability control, alloy wheels, air conditioning, a CD player, premium cloth seats, and remote keyless entry. 

The Tucson also offers a modest boot and the front passenger seats can even fold flat for extra-long cargo. The Tucson comes fitted with safety features like dual-stage frontal impact airbags, torso side-impact airbags, and curtain airbags for front and rear passengers.


2nd Generation

The second-generation Tucson started its production in 2009 adding different offerings to the 2nd generation 6 engine options: 1.6L Gamma GDI I4, 2.0L Nu GDi I4, 2.0L Theta II MPi I4, 2.4L Theta II MPi I4 petrol engines, 1.7L U II CRDi I4, and 2.0L R II CRDi I4 diesel engines. These engines are mated to a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, or 6-speed automatic. The 2011 GLS trim comes with Popular Equipment Package and an automatic transmission. All AWD models are now powered by standard heated seats.

The Limited trims got color-coded cladding, a high-performance sound system, and automatic climate control. The GLS trims have cloth seats with an optional heating element. The GLS and SE trims were renamed from the GL and GLS while the SE trim offers a 6-cylinder engine and comes with a sport utility rack, and has 4WD. 


3rd Generation


The 3rd generation Tucson started its production in 2015 with additional engines size such as 1.6L Gamma GDI I4, 1.6L Gamma T-GDi I4, 2.0L Nu MPi I4, 2.0L Nu GDi I4, 2.4L Theta II MPi I4, 2.4L Theta II GDI I4 petrol engines, 1.6L U II CRDi I4, 1.7L U II CRDi I4, and 2.0 L R II CRDi I4 diesel engines. These engines are powered by a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, 8-speed automatic, or 7-speed DCT.


Safety technologies include auto-braking, dual-clutch automatic transmission, Hyundai Active Cornering Control, lane departure warning, and blind-spot detection. This Tucson received significant exterior updates including reshaped hood and tailgate design, a new cascade grille, a rectangular fuel door, an updated LED headlight, and new rim designs. The interior includes a high-mounted head unit display, newly designed dash, 5-inch touchscreen, USB/aux input jacks, a drive mode selector, Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview camera, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, and automatic headlights.

Hyundai also unveiled a diesel-powered plug-in hybrid and a Tucson hybrid electric. The 48V Hybrid is linked with a 2.0L diesel model with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 14 hp electric motor; the combined system is 148 hp and 413 Nm of torque. 


4th Generation

On 14 September 2020, the 4th generation Tucson was announced featuring DRL, bulging fenders, short overhangs, and a level roofline. The new Tucson features a 4-point steering wheel, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch full-touch screen with a capacitive button. 

The 4th generation comes fitted with different inline-4 engine sizes: 1.5L Smartstream G1.5 T-GDi, 1.6L Smartstream G1.6 T-GDi, 2.0L Smartstream G2.0 MPi, 2.5L Smartstream G2.5 GDI petrol engines, 1.6L Smartstream G1.6T HEV T-GDi Petrol hybrid, 1.6L Smartstream G1.6T PHEV T-GDi petrol plug-in hybrid, 1.6L Smartstream D1.6 CRDi, 2.0L Smartstream D2.0 CRDi diesel engines. These engines power via a 6-speed manual, 6-speed clutchless manual, 6-speed automatic, 8-speed automatic, 6-speed DCT, or 7-speed DCT transmission and a permanent magnet synchronous with 48V Mild hybrid (MHEV) for hybrid model.
