How to Prepare for the Perfect Picnic
Picnics are great! You can go with friends to the park or the beach, or even spend a romantic day with your loved one. I really enjoy picnics, but in order to have a great time, you must prepare in advance. It's really irritating when you forget something important which could ruin your day. So, read the rest of this article and find out how to prepare for the best picnic ever!
Packing
I know this sounds obvious, but make sure you pack everything you need. You'd be surprised how many people would forget simple things like a bottle opener or napkins, for example. Just because these are things we consider simple, we often tend to neglect them. So, what I do before I pack my picnic basket is a check-list with everything I would need for the picnic. I cross the items I pack and thus make it nearly impossible to forget something. As for the picnic basket, there are many types to choose from, but personally I prefer to stick to the traditional wicker basket. Whatever type you choose, though, make sure there is enough room for all dinnerware for at least four people. This includes glasses, plates, flatware, cutleries, etc.
Food
Unless it's a big barbecue picnic with many people attending, I prefer to make some sandwiches. They are easy to hold (compared to a plastic plate full of salad) and they are filling. And while it's entirely up to you what to bring, I thought I'd share with you my favourite picnic sandwich:
Grilled Smoked Salmon Sandwich
You will need:
Smear enough cream cheese on the bread and add a layer salmon. Then a layer of sliced onions and finish with a layer of sliced tomatoes. Close the sandwich and spread butter on the bread. Grill the sandwich until cream cheese melts. Wrap it in wax paper first, then in tin foil in order to keep it warm.
As for the drinks, once again it depends who you are going with, are you driving, etc. I guess a bottle of wine and some non-alcoholic beverages such as fizzy drinks and juices would be appropriate. Additionally, you can consider taking some dessert with you, such as cookies, for example.
Finally, don't forget to do what our friends from end of lease cleaning Melbourne suggest - clean after yourself! I really feel sorry for people who leave a mess in public places like parks or the beach - don't be one of them!
