Manual migration is the simplest option, but it can be time-consuming and error-prone. You'll need to export your Outlook emails and contacts to a file, then import them into Gmail.

To export your Outlook emails, follow these steps:

  2. Click the File menu.
  3. Select Open & Export.
  4. Click Import/Export.
  5. Select Export to a file.
  6. Select Outlook Data File (.pst) as the file type.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select the folders you want to export.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Enter a filename and location for the exported file.
  11. Click Finish.

To import your Outlook emails into Gmail, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Gmail and sign in to your account.
  2. Click the Gear icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Click the Accounts and Import tab.
  5. Click Import mail and contacts.
  6. Enter your Outlook email address and password.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Select the folders you want to import.
  9. Click Start import.

Which method should you choose?

The best method for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you're comfortable with a little technical work, manual migration is a viable option. However, if you want a more automated and error-free solution, Shoviv IMAP Migration Tool is a better choice.

Here are some additional tips for migrating Outlook to Gmail:

  • Make sure you have a backup of your Outlook data before you start the migration process.
  • If you're using a shared Outlook mailbox, you'll need to contact the mailbox owner to get permission to migrate the data.
  • If you have any custom rules or filters in Outlook, you'll need to recreate them in Gmail.
  • Once the migration is complete, test your emails and contacts to make sure they've been transferred correctly.
