Germany is one of the countries where the unemployment rate has declined considerably and its job market is booming like never before. In Particular, it has become a major technological hub in terms of job opportunities where professionals from science and mathematics have even more opportunities to make a career.

With the rising migrant population, the German government has come up with various visa programs to facilitate skilled professionals to access work visas and settle down in the country. However, most work visas require a job offer from a German employer even to become eligible for a work visa but what about those who don’t have a job offer but are interested in migrating?

A German job seeker visa is the best option for those who want to migrate and then search for a job. This particular visa is for professionals who have prior work experience and are interested in searching for work in Germany. Of course, there are specific eligibility criteria for this type of Germany immigration that every candidate must meet.

What is a German Job Seeker Visa?

The Germany job seeker visa is a type of work visa which allows you to stay in Germany for a period of 6 months and find work in the country. However, the candidates who are applying for this visa need to meet specific requirements to be granted this visa.

They also need to go through an application process and provide all the required documents to access a Jobseeker visa.

What are the eligibility requirements for a Germany Job Seeker Visa?

  • You should have 12 years of complete education and a bachelor’s degree (or master’s degree if you have done) from a university that is recognized overseas or a university in Germany.

  • You should have a minimum of 1-year of relevant experience in the field of your study.

  • You should have medical insurance coverage that provides health insurance for the duration of your stay or at least till you get a work permit after finding the job.

  • You should arrange for your accommodation for your stay and provide proof of the accommodation during the visa processing.

Other specifications for a Germany Jobseeker visa include:

The individuals from the EU, EEA, and Switzerland are allowed to stay in Germany and find a job without obtaining a visa. Also, professionals from countries like Australia, the USA, Canada, South Korea, Israel, New Zealand, and Canada can also enter Germany without a job seeker visa but it is mandatory for them to get a residency permit as soon as they arrive in Germany.

Once you meet all the eligibility requirements, you can apply for a Germany job seeker visa and get a visa appointment from the German embassy or consulate for further processing. And, also pay the job seeker visa fees and attach them to your application.

Remember, you can’t extend your stay in Germany after 6 months if you can’t get a job during your stay in the country. If you find work then you can apply for an EU Blue Card (which is the work permit) which will allow you to continue your stay in the country.
