How 24 Hour Urgent Care Clinic is Different From a Hospital?

by Patrick Ward Walk in Urgent Care Clinic
You cannot always expect your family physician to be available round the clock. They have a life too. They deserve a vacation at times. They must also spend quality time with their family.

So, what do you do when you develop a breathing issue and need a doctor immediately?

You visit a 24 hour urgent care clinic. These modern health care setups have taken the US by the storm.

No, they aren’t going to make hospitals redundant anytime soon. Hospitals are always needed in a community. However, the clinics promise to provide immediate primary medical care to patients walking in. The patients could be from any strata of the society, medically insured or uninsured, old or young.

Why urgent care clinics cannot replace hospitals?

Urgent care clinics are equipped to handle a range of common ailments.

These include fever, chills, common cold, flu, breathing problems, asthma attacks, animal bites, insect stings, minor injuries, boils, cuts, minor burns, minor infections of the bladder, kidney, and prostate, stomach issues, body pains, migraines, falls, minor fractures, Pink Eye, infections of the eyes and the ears, Skin Tags, Lyme Disease, rashes, STDs, sprains, strains, sinuses, sore throat, allergies, heartburn, and ulcers.

However, the clinics are not equipped to handle life-threatening conditions like heart attack, stroke, severe bleeding, brain injuries, and other terminal illnesses.

In these cases, you need to rush to a hospital.

So, hospitals will always be there. Yet, with 24 hour urgent care center near you, you are rest assured that a doctor is available urgently. A plethora of common ailments exist in the world. You never know what ailment strikes you.

In the presence of a walk-in clinic, you can skip hospital visit and see a doctor just around the corner. This makes for a convenient, hassle-free, and affordable affair.

Urgent care clinics seem to have eased the ‘burden’ of hospitals

Earlier, when such urgent care setups were non-existent, even a migraine patient would step inside a hospital.

Hospitals are already brimming with patients suffering from serious illnesses. Many patients are serious enough to be hospitalized. Many others are struggling between life and death. No wonder you can find doctors and the staff on their toes, too busy to even talk at times.

It is important to schedule an appointment beforehand. In spite of this, there is always a chance that a doctor may be between the consultation to attend a just-arrived patient with a life-threatening condition. So, you must wait. You must also wait otherwise, as a typical hospital almost always witnesses a swarm of patients.

With the advent of urgent care clinics, patients with illnesses that are not life-threatening in nature can skip the hospital; rather walk in the clinic near them. For example, Alexandria clinic is known for its urgent care and excellent service to patients.

It’s not wrong to say that urgent care clinics have opened new doors to healthcare. They are dedicated to providing immediate medical attention to patients.

So, the next time you catch a cold or develop a stomach issue, skip the hospital hassle. Walk in 24 hour urgent care center instead.
