History of the Doors of Kaabah
Holy Kaabah is present in Makkah, Saudia Arabia. Inside Masjid-al-Haram and 20 meters from the well of Zamzam, the exceptionally charming and exemplary architectured ‘House of Allah Almighty’ (Holy Kaabah) is situated. It remains the oldest and the most sacred place of worship for Muslims living across the Globe. First built by Hazrat Adam (AS) and then re-constructed by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS); the last construction of Kaabah took place by Quraysh when Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) was 35 years old.
Initially, Masjid-al-Aqsa (located in Jerusalem) was the 1st Qibla for Muslims. However, when Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) was offering Salah in Masjid-al-Qiblatayn, he (SAWW) received revelation from Allah Almighty and turned the direction of Qibla to Holy Kaabah (located inside Masjid-al-Haram in Makkah). Since that time, Holy Kaabah is the only Qibla for Muslims and will remain till the end of time.
So, if you are traveling with cheap umrah packages Manchester and from other countries, here’s a brief description of the History of doors of Kaabah.
How many doors are there?
In the Past;
Initially, when Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) built the Holy Kaabah, there used to be 2 openings/doors of Kaabah. People entered from the eastern door and exited through the western door. Both of these openings were on the ground level and open for everyone.
Today;
After the re-construction of Kaabah by Quraysh, Holy Kaabah was raised from the ground level and only one opening was left behind. Therefore, Today Holy Kaabah has only 1 door for entrance/exit and that is on the eastern side. Although one additional door is present inside the Kaabah, but that is for granting access to the roof.
Physical aspects of the Door of Kaabah.
Dimensions;
The door of the Holy Kaabah rises 2.2 meters from the ground level. The total height of the door is about 3.18 meters. The thickness of the door remains measured at 222 centimetres long and 171 centimetres wide.
Material;
The building material of the Door of Kaabah includes huge quantities of pure Gold and Silver.
Possession of the Keys.
According to the will of Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW), the keys of the Holy Kaabah have always belonged to Al-Shaiba Family. For the last 15 centuries and till the end of the world, the Al-Shaiba family will remain the only custodian of the keys. The keys remain inherited by the eldest member of the family.
Cleaning of Kaabah;
Annually the cleansing ritual of the Holy Kaabah takes place twice a year; in the month of Shaaban (before Ramadan) and in the month of Dhul-Qaada (before Hajj). It is also performed by the Al-Shaiba Family and the Royals. The supplies used to clean the Kaabah include a mixture of Zamzam and pure Tayef rosewater and the most expensive and purest Oud oil.
Usually, the place around the door of Kaabah remains crowded with pilgrims. So, if you are travelling from cheap Ramadan umrah packages one must refrain from pushing and shoving the people just to get closer to the door.
