Image The Indian culture is rich in diversity. We have different food, attire, festivals and dance forms for different parts of the country. This diversity is a major attraction for the people living abroad and we all know that Indian food is appreciated all over the world.

Indian, especially north Indians are crazy food-lovers. The existence and popularity of multiple restaurants in saket, Karolbagh and other populated areas of Delhi is evident of the fact that we just cannot do without good food.

You would agree to the fact that whenever you look out for north indian cuisine in Delhi or whenever you hold the menu of a north Indian restaurant, a "rice" section is always there. You cannot have a menu without the famous "jeera rice" or "veg pulao". The north Indian food is centered around quite a number of rice dishes and you should feel happy about it.

There are two types of rice: white rice and brown rice. If you're accustomed to having brown rice, it only gets better. Here's a list of some of the health benefits of brown rice.

•Whole grain: The brown rice is considered as a whole grain as it has not gone through the refinement process and hence, it's wholeness is not lost. They are good for arteries as they reduce the buildup of plaque. It also reduces the risks of heart diseases and high cholesterol.

•Fibrous: Brown rice contains a lot of fibers. These fibers attach with the substances and toxins which might cause cancer in the body. Further, this attachment prevents the link of toxins and colon wall. Hence, cancer causing elements can easily be eliminated with brown rice.

Manganese: Manganese s required by the body for the synthesis of fats and for the proper functioning of nervous system and reproductive system. Now, one cup of brown rice contain 80% of our daily manganese requirements and therefore, is a healthy food to depend on.

Stabilize sugar levels: White rice is quite famous for causing diabetes and hence are never suggested to people suffering from high sugar levels. On the contrary, brown rice helps in bringing down the high levels of sugar and hence is excellent choice for diabetes patients.

Complete meal: Brown rice makes our stomach feel full and it drives smaller meal portions. Brown rice is extremely helpful for people aiming for weight loss because of its fibrous nature.

So if you're eating brown rice, you're doing the right thing.
