Tooth extraction is one of the scariest experiences we have all gone through at some point in our lives. From the time, we had to remove that shaky tooth off the mouth, in our childhood to having had to extract the wisdom tooth for the trouble it gave us. It is difficult to associate the word 'pleasant' with tooth extraction. However, the technology these days has advanced so much that even a word so violent as 'tooth extraction' can seem to feel better. There are a number of painless techniques that are being employed by the dentists which helps people feel at ease during the extraction.

It is however important to analyze and decide as to when the tooth extraction would have to be done. It is often seen that this treatment is advised by dentists for the smallest issue. However great implants or false teeth can be, there can be no replacement for a natural teeth obviously. Therefore experts at dental clinics state, it is important that the decision as to extract a tooth be taken very carefully and only in circumstances when it seems to be the last resort available.

Tooth extraction basically is the process where the tooth is removed from the socket of the bone. This would be the option available for various instances, these include

  • Extreme cases of broken teeth,
  • Damaged tooth or missing tooth,
  • A wisdom tooth erupting in to the skin of the mouth and has no other place to grow into,
  • If the milk tooth has not fallen in an adult or a teenager,
  • For a root canal treatment due to extremely damaged cavity,
  • Any other infected teeth and for a number of other reasons.

Again, there is no particular right or wrong time to have a tooth extracted. Tooth extraction differs from person to person and various health conditions that the person would be living with. However, this should be employed as a last resort option and not for any small simple reason. In some cases, when people would have to get a tooth extracted and if they also would have to be on certain types of medication including the biophosphonates drugs, it is important to have the tooth extracted before the consumption of the drug treatment. Tooth extractions can either be simple extractions or surgical extractions.

The removal of tooth can have a person confronting issues such as issues in chewing, jaw related problems or even shifting teeth. These can have a huge impact on the person and therefore it is important that a well qualified and expert dental clinic is consulted or refer some reviews before consulting the dentist to know which one to choose. It is also necessary for people to take proper precautions after the tooth extraction process and the patient must ensure to contact the dental professional on any bleeding, swelling, inflammation or any other discomfort after the extraction.
