Go Guwahati Gone!

by Manish Kumar Marketing Head

After a long series of random vacations, I had one vacation planned way back with a college friend. She and I have always had a craving for the North-Eastern places. All we have done in our entire college life is discuss the vacation that we shall go on to after start earning a decent salary. We never took time to simply imagine ourselves running between the tea-gardens of Assam or may be enjoying the thrilling rainfall of Cherapoonji. We have had it all in our own heads.

After a few years of graduation, when we finally started to have some savings from our salaries, it was time to give shape to this long lost imagination of ours. Of the entire seven sister states, we decided to embark upon Assam this time, Guwahati in particular. We booked our flights and it was in a week. We looked up for accommodation in Guwahati, which wasn’t that difficult to finalise our choice, as we found a hotel with one of the best rooms it offered at the best price and with best amenities; any other hotel was offering.

The most necessary thing in our list of “things to do in Guwahati” definitely included our dream run. We wanted it to happen in reality, that is, us running within the bushes of tea gardens and get a lot of pictures clicked. For the tea gardens, we had to go little down to the lower valley, where actually the cultivation is being done, that is, at the banks of Brahmaputra. But we were ready to travel, particularly for this. The other things that we had in our mind were to visit the Kamakkhya temple and other very renowned temples, The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical garden and trek up to the hills as much as we can and as much as we can grasp the natural beauty of Guwahati.

Our whole itinerary went off extremely smooth. A lot of credit goes to the hotel that we were staying at. I can say it without a doubt, that our hotel was one of the best hotels in Guwahati. The reason being, other than the beautiful rooms and all the amenities available, the staff took care of us like their own people. They helped us with all the transportation for all our tourist spots at a very good price. At the end of the day, we preferred to have dinner at our own hotel because the food was delicious.

In the end, my friend and I were extremely happy with our first ever holiday to the beautiful state of Assam for which we had become capable enough to pay for ourselves.
