Ghee is the clarified version of butter that is made by using butter. But, is ghee better than butter? This is a common dilemma for many. Here in this article, we will compare which one is better for our health. Pure cow ghee has long been associated with Indian culture and ‘ghee’  is an Indian word that derives from the Sanskrit word, ‘ghrita’. Butter and ghee, both are rich in saturated fatty acids and have similar nutritional profiles. But they have several disadvantages as well -

Ghee vs butter

  1. Ghee has 120 calories in a tablespoon of butter while butter has 102 calories in the same amount. While buying ghee you should read the product label very well.

  2. Is ghee better than butter in terms of flavor? The answer is yes. The flavor of ghee is suitable for all types of cooking. The nutty aroma of ghee instantly enhances the flavor of your dishes. Butter is also delicious but it's not suitable for all types of cooking.

  3. Butter is not shelf-stable and it needs refrigeration support to stay fresh. But ghee is free from milk solids and needs no cooling support to stay fresh.

  4. Ghee is suitable for people of all ages. Lactose-intolerants can easily have ghee without any hesitation.

  5. Butter contains milk sugar lactose and milk protein casein which burns easily when we use it for high-heat cooking. But organic ghee is completely free from milk solids which is safe for high-temperature cooking. Hope you have a clear idea that is ghee better than butter.
