by Mitun Mukherjee Milkio food product

It is a pretty clear fact that ghee is experiencing a surge in popularity. But what makes ghee superior to butter? Let's start with the simple stuff. Butter is produced by churning milk cream until the milk butter separates from the buttermilk. Calories in a tablespoon of butter are not higher than clarified butter. Butter does have some traces of milk solids which are removed during the ghee-making process.

Ghee is a form of clarified butter that removes excess water and separates the lactose and casein content. During the long cooking process a caramelized, nutty, and rich flavor develops. But ghee calories are higher than butter which is a major concern for people in a weight loss diet plan. But you will be surprised to know that ghee can help in faster weight loss. Here are the reasons -

  1. Ghee contains butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that reduces inflammation in the gut lining. It is easy to digest and perfect for colon care.

  2. Cow ghee is a source of medium-chain triglycerides or MCTs that are great metabolism boosters.

  3. Calories in a tablespoon of butter can't suppress your hunger pangs for a longer time. But, ghee calories can keep a person full for a good amount of time. When following a ghee diet, always maintain restriction, or else it can make you fat.
