Get to know the Super Minivan – Toyota Alphard

The Toyota Alphard or also known as Toyota Vellfire is a seven/eight-seat multipurpose minivan produced since 2002 with petrol or hybrid engine. The Alphard is a true definition of luxury on wheels with an interior designed with the comfort of all its inhabitants in mind.

Performance

The Alphard is currently on its 3rd generation now with several engines to power it. The 1st generation (2002 – 2008) comes with a 2.4L 2AZ-FE petrol engine producing 160 hp with fuel consumption of 9.3 km/l, a 3.0L 1MZ-FE petrol engine producing 220 hp consuming 8.6 km/l, and 2.4L 2AZ-FXE petrol hybrid engine using the Toyota Hybrid System-CVT (THS-C) with electric motors attached to an e-CVT producing 170 hp and combined fuel consumption of 16 km/l. 

The 2AZ-FE engine and 2AZ-FXE hybrid continued being used in the second generation (2008 – 2015), with a new 7-speed CVT-i automatic, along with 3.5L 2GR-FE petrol engine producing 280 hp consuming 9.4 km/l. The third generation (2015 – 2021) comes with 2.5L 2AR-FE petrol engine, 3.5L 2GR-FKS petrol engine, and the Alphard Hybrid 2.5L 2AR-FXE petrol engine via a 6-speed Sequential Shiftmatic transmission and Toyota’s E-Four electric all-wheel-drive system.

Interior & Exterior

The Alphard has a very spacious cabin that offers enough head, shoulder, knee, leg, and foot room. It comes with a super-long slip and slide passenger seat 2 that allows the front seat to be placed on the same seat rail as the second-row seat creating a maximum length of 1,160 mm and also offering a large cargo area with a maximum length of 2,150 mm. The third-row seat sliding mechanism creates under-floor storage with a 148-liter cargo area which is made possible by the deck board that folds into three sections. The interior comes with LED roof lights that offer 16 color variations and four brightness levels creating a touch of understated luxury.

The Alphard has a robust exterior with a dynamic design that fuses the shoulder area that starts at the headlights and extends to the rear with bulky underbody and sculpted underlining around the wheels. Also features a large front grille with thick mesh trim blended into the lower grille, and the rear combination lights along with the license plate garnish are merged by the U-shaped structure that highlights the wide-body and powerful underbody.

Safety

The Alphard comes with unique safety features such as Intelligent Clearance Sonar 2 with eight sensors and Pre-collision System 2 that detect objects or vehicles on the road ahead helping to avoid risks. Also, offers a Panoramic View Monitor, Intelligent Parking Assist, and Radar Cruise Control.
