FBOs are responsible for complying with the regulations and standards set by FSSAI. This includes adhering to hygiene and safety practices, maintaining appropriate infrastructure and equipment, ensuring proper food labeling and packaging, and implementing a robust food safety management system.

Regular Inspection and Auditing:

FSSAI conducts regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with food safety standards. FBOs are required to cooperate with the inspection teams and provide all necessary documents and information. They must also make any necessary improvements or corrective actions based on the inspection findings.

Ensuring Food Safety:

One of the primary responsibilities of FBOs is to ensure the safety of the food they handle or produce. This involves maintaining proper storage and transportation conditions, implementing effective pest control measures, using safe and hygienic ingredients, and preventing cross-contamination.

Displaying FSSAI License:

Once the FSSAI registration is granted, the FBO is required to prominently display the FSSAI license at the place of business. This helps in building consumer trust and confidence, as it assures them that the food being served or sold complies with the necessary food safety standards.

Training and Awareness:

FBOs are responsible for training their staff on food safety practices and standards. They should ensure that their employees are aware of the necessary hygiene and safety protocols, including personal hygiene, proper handling of food, and prevention of foodborne illnesses.

Record-Keeping:

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records is crucial for FBOs. They need to maintain records of raw material suppliers, production processes, storage conditions, and distribution channels. This helps in traceability, recall procedures, and investigating any food safety incidents or complaints.

Adhering to Labeling Requirements:

FBOs must comply with FSSAI's labeling requirements for packaged food products. This includes providing accurate and clear information about ingredients, nutritional values, allergens, vegetarian or non-vegetarian symbols, and FSSAI license numbers. Proper labeling helps consumers make informed choices and ensures transparency.
