Acrylic painting today interests both youngsters and grownups! You don’t have to be or become a prolific painter to experiment with acrylic paints. However, if you have taken an interest in this painting form, you can make use of some of the simple techniques to create beautiful painting pieces.

1.      Make scraped backgrounds

Scraped backgrounds are a simple acrylic painting idea that you can try! It's fun, and you can complete it fast as well. You can create various background pages with this technique. All you need is a flat object. For that, you can choose a canvas, an old gift card or cardboard that's not in proper use anymore. After that, you can get a few dabs of the acrylic paint and gently spread it all across the flat surface. This layering is easy and helps you to create several art pieces. You can use scraped backgrounds on various objects and directions. You can paint side to side or up and down. Simply, take the flat object and experiment with the paint. You can also keep blending to create different effects.

2.      Add more texture

One of the best acrylic painting techniques is adding textures! It’s a great choice when you are developing mixed media art. You can add textures in several ways using acrylic paint. You may also attach various things to get the desired texture in your painting. It is one of the most well-designed ways to repurpose multiple items in and around your house.

You can use ribbons, tape, string, paper pieces, and many more! You can paint all these using acrylic paints. Make use of matter or glue medium for attaching the items before painting. You will get the desired texture you want.

3.      Underpainting

Most people also love to use the underpainting technique with acrylic paints. Here you paint the initial layer in a single color. Once the color dries, you can add another color layer as well. Once the first layer dries off, it might not blend with the fresh paint layer. However, it will gradually show the second layer. You can execute this tactic using multiple ways and for various projects as well. This technique allows you to use one color and get multiple shades of the same.

Through the underpainting technique, you can develop several layers. It is more so when you are painting objects and scenes. You might find it easy to start with a single color and gradually expanding the same with layers and adding various colors. The initial layer you made will show through in different ways. It creates a multi-layer that effect that you may like on the canvas.

4.      The sprays and splatters

One of the best ways to use acrylic paints is through sprays and splatters. It helps in creating multiple effects. Though sometimes, it can turn out to be messy, it's ample fun. However, ensure that the paint gets watered down so that it doesn’t clog the spray nozzle.

There are several other ways to use acrylic paints. You can start with the techniques mentioned above and add other methods along the way.
