Foods Staples that Nutritionists usually like to stock up on!

by Fitfoodies Mantra fitfoodies

Let us start by saying that when we say Nutritionists, we are not talking about each and every nutritionist out there! At the moment we are being very specific and talking essentially about our nutritionist in Delhi NCR! There are specific foods that we always seem to end up finding in her pantry and we decided to ask her what the deal was with them!

She thoroughly agrees with the fact that trying new things in terms of food is always a good idea, and that by keeping an open mind in the kitchen, you can easily avoid boredom whilst cooking! You have to realize that variety, when it comes to food, is the basic key to getting good nutrition. But there are few things that she is particularly partial to, and the main reason for that is that these foods, apart from being healthy are also extremely versatile.

Oats

Oats, truly are among the healthiest grains on earth and no one can second guess this! This wonderful gluten-free food, apart from being an amazing source of vitamins and minerals also happens to be chockfull of antioxidants and fiber! From helping in weight loss to reducing the risk of heart diseases, oats are a miracle worker when it comes to helping you lead a healthier life!

Oats, other than being filled with antioxidants, also contains a specific antioxidant called Avenanthramides. This compound especially helps in lowering the blood pressure levels in our body by improving the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide, in turn helps in dilating the blood vessels so as to allow blood to flow seamlessly.

Oats are brilliantly versatile too! From cooking them into a porridge form to being able to even make waffles or cakes out of them, there is no shape that this wonderful food substance cannot take! Versatility and Health, now who wouldn’t want that!

Nuts

Though some people might disagree when we call nuts healthy, as they are high in fats, they also happen to provide our health with a lot of benefits that are difficult to count! And if that was not enough, they also happen to be brilliantly easy to carry around with you, which, seeing the day and age we are in right now, comes in extremely handy!

Nuts are antioxidant haven! Antioxidants are essential when it comes to controlling free radicals, despite the fact that free radicals, when produced in a lesser amount, can prove to be beneficial for one’s health! However overproduction can also result in the exposure of your body to many diseases! Nuts are also effective in helping us lower cholesterol levels thus helping prevent heart diseases. And from being able to reduce inflammation to being high in fiber, there is nothing these tiny foods cannot do!

The best thing about nuts is that they can literally be added to anything that you are eating! From your morning porridge, to that brown rice pilaf you decide to indulge in, nuts compliment everything! Easy to carry AND delicious, our nutrition expert in Delhi definitely swears by it!

Eggs

Sunny-side up anyone? Or maybe a fluffy omelette at that? Do you see where we are going with this? For most of us, our breakfast seems incomplete, without atleastindulging in one or two of these white beauties! Be it poached, hard boiled or half boiled, eggs are a staple when it comes to healthy food. But how you cook your eggs also has a say in whether the eggs you decide to devour are healthy or not!

Did you know that eggs contain an important nutrient that most people don’t seem to get enough of? This nutrient is called Choline, and is an essential part of helping to build cell membranes, and also helps in producing the signalling molecules in the brain!

These wonderful foods also contain nutrients like Lutein and Zeaxanthin, which are basically antioxidants and which provide major benefits to your eyes! When had in significant portions, these nutrients can easily reduce the risk of cataract development and macular degeneration as well!

Don’t all these foods sound like they deserve their rightful place in your pantry? WE are sure that you agree, specially after having gone through all the benefits that they have to offer your health!
