Feast of the Black Nazarene 2017 - Millions of devotees are expected to pour into Quiapo district in Manila on Monday, January 9 to join the annual procession of the Black Nazarene. The traslacion is scheduled to start as early as 7 a.m., but people are expected to gather at the Quiapo church and along the path of the procession earlier. The procession is expected to end between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Catholic devotees will hold a fiesta vigil at Quirino Grandstand, Luneta on January 8 while there is a scheduled Eucharistic Celebration at the same venue by midnight before they commence the traslacion.

Last year, police said about 1.5 million people took part in the seven-kilometer (4.5-mile) parade, which runs from the park to the icon's home inside the downtown Quiapo church. Crowned with thorns and bearing a cross, the Nazarene statue was brought to Manila by Augustinian priests in 1607, early on in Spain's 400-year colonial rule.

An hourly Eucharistic Celebration will be held at Quiapo Church from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. of January 9 before the expected arrival of the Black Nazarene on January 10.
