Executive Search In Sydney – How To Nail Your Interview

by Clayton Clive Blogger

Unlike interviewing for a lower-level position, interviewing for senior, C-Suite, and executive positions more intense and elaborate. Knowing how to conduct yourself before and during the interview is the key to succeeding and making a great first impression.

When it comes to executive search in Sydney, headhunters are focused on looking for specific details such as relevant qualifications and past experience, required skillsets, and desired leadership personality traits. Regardless of the candidate’s character, this can make the interview process somewhat daunting.

In order to present yourself in the best light and make a great first impression, consider these following tips to help you nail your executive interview:

Before the interview

·         Research

Executive candidates are no strangers to interviews with headhunters and their organizations, yet it can be easy to forget some simple factors before the interview date. One such factor is conducting research. This can include researching their current executives, the history of the company, and the latest news or announcements regarding the organization.

Knowing as much as you can about the organization, it’s values and company culture will not only boost your confidence, but it will also demonstrate your seriousness about the senior position from the very start.

·        Prepare

The executive headhunter will ask a variety of questions during the interview that is designed to gather as much information from you as possible. To avoid coming up with answers on the spot and to help reinforce your confidence, prepare for your interview by rehearsing for commonly asked questions.

These can include:

>        “How would you usually go about evaluating the performance of an employee?”

>        “Describe a situation when you implemented productive change in your current company, and how did you implement this change?”

>        “How would you best describe your style of management?”

>        Describe a situation when you had to deal with a difficult staff member, and what was the outcome?”

>        “If hired for the position, what would be your main priorities for the first six months in the role?”

>        “Describe your style of communication”

>        “What is the most difficult situation you have faced being a manager or executive, and how did you overcome it?”

During the interview

·        Examples

There is no point highlighting the various successes you have achieved for your current company without any proof to back it up. To help further demonstrate your executive-level abilities, always have examples of your achievements ready.

If you are answering a question regarding your management style, give a specific example of a situation where you guided your team to successfully complete a project and how specific objectives or goals were met.

·        Closing

How you end the interview is important. You need to make sure you fully understand the next steps of the executive interview process. Who will be present during your second interview if successful in progressing further? Are you required to bring any specific documents or information?

And of course, it’s the last chance you have to reiterate your level of interest in the role.

Whether you are having an interview with a headhunter who specializes in executive search in Sydney, Melbourne or anywhere else in Australia, consider these tips and ensure you nail your executive interview.
