Everything you need to know about the Toyota Vitz

The Toyota Vitz is a hatchback manufactured in 1999 and is a very popular car thanks to its fuel economy, reliability, and affordability. It was marketed exclusively in the Japanese market and is also known as the Toyota Yaris in other international markets and comes in three generations. The first generation XP10 (1999 – 2005), the second generation XP90 (2005 – 2010), and the third generation XP130 (2011 - 2019).

Toyota Vitz Grades


The Toyota Vitz F is the base model with a 1.0L and 1.3L engine in 2WD or 4WD with standard features including 14-inch steel rims, halogen headlights, key start, and AC. It has two sub-level: the M Package with the 1.0L engine, 2WD, and a bi-color interior trim. And the SMART STOP with the 1.3L engine and Toyota’s Start & Stop System. 


The Toyota Vitz Jewela has the same features as the F model and is more likely aimed at women clientele with its unique colors like pink, maroon, red, and purple.


The Toyota Vitz U is the luxurious version with a 1.3L engine or 1.5L engine. And it comes with 2WD or 4WD, steering audio controls, xenon headlights, chrome trim, keyless/smart start, turn signal on side mirrors, and 15-inch steel rims.

The Toyota Vitz RS is the sports version equipped with a 1.5L 1NZ supercharged engine that accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.5 sec. Also includes fog lights, xenon headlights, keyless/smart start, turn signal, luggage cover, and 16-inch alloy rims. 

Toyota Vitz Features


The Toyota Vitz is longer and wider with an angular body style making the car more sporty and modern in appearance. It is also has a spacious cabin for people of average height and suitable for short travels.


There are multiple storage areas in the cabin such as cup holders, door panel storage, a glove box, center tray, and front-seat jacket pockets, and door pockets for the U and RS models. Other features include are adjustable steering, smart stop, DVD/Navigation, SRS airbags, curtain airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, traction control, and vehicle stability control.


Fuel Economy and Acceleration


The Toyota Vitz comes with a 1.0L engine with average fuel consumption of 20.8 Km/L and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 15.3 sec; the 1.3L engine consumes an average fuel of 20.6 Km/L, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 11.7 sec; and a 1.5L engine consumes 18.8 Km/L, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.5 sec. While the Toyota Vitz SMART STOP offers a 1.3L engine with a fuel economy of 23.5 Km/L. Offered in 2WD and 4WD, with CVT, 4-speed AT, or 5-speed MT.
