Eating Right: A Meal Guide for New Vegans

by Vegan Culinary Cruises Luxury – All Inclusive – All Vegan
Being vegan can be very challenging especially for newbies. If you find yourself searching whether oreo is vegan because you’re dying to eat -- or if you find yourself eating another bowl of plain oats -- you’re probably missing out on a lot of nutrients. When you go vegan, you must consider committing yourself to proper meal preparation or you’ll lose it. In worst cases, you might even get sick because of it. Here are the sample amount and types of vegan dishes you need to acquire all the nutrients crucial to have a healthy body on a daily basis.

Vegan Dishes

Vegetable Dishes

The optimal serving of vegetables in a day is 5 servings. According to Simple Fit Vegan, a blog dedicated to vegan living, a healthy plant-based diet must include 5 servings of vegetables a day.

One serving equates to:
1/2 cup of cooked vegetables (e.g. mushrooms, green beans)
1 cup of raw leafy vegetables (e.g. spinach, kale)
1/2 cup vegetable juice

Mixing raw and cooked vegetables is also a great and healthier way to enjoy vegetables because some types of vegetables reduce its nutrients when it undergoes mallard reaction which is the chemical reaction between amino acids and reducing sugars that gives browned food its distinctive flavor. Now all you have to do is to distribute these vegetables mentioned above to make every meal a hearty one.

The Thing About Skipping Meals

We might not always have the appetite -- or the time -- to sit down and enjoy our food (yes, it’s sad) but it shouldn’t be a reason not to intake food appropriately. If you barely have the appetite to eat or prepare a meal, the best alternative would be to increase leafy greens in your meal. On the other hand, if you don’t have the time to sit down and eat, you could easily throw everything in the blender (considering they all complement each other, e.g. Banana, kale and almond milk) and go along with your day.

Supplements Barely Help

A lot of vegans turn to supplements when they feel like they’ve been missing out on some nutrients that are absent in their diet. Supplements help in some way, yes, but you can’t solely rely on supplements to have a sufficient amount of nutrition.
