On 21st December, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) declared that, any drone which weighs more than 0.55 pounds or less than 55 pounds, you have to register it in FAA and tell the country about it. I know it seems a bit weird, but this is decision is only being done in the name of the safety. As hobbyist have flown their drone very close to the fire, this leads the most severe incidents. So, to stop all these, the FAA announced that it would require some publicly available drone to register to their owner. The transportation secretary Antony Foxx said that “Finding a drone has not been as much of a problem, as finding the person who was using the drone”.

Federal Aviation Administration's chief Michel Huerta said in a press conference that “Registration will increase the pressure on drone operators to fly safely, when they do not fly safely, they will know there will be an outcome”.

Why it is Imperative to Register Your Drone?

Registering your brand new quadcopter will help you to build the feeling of liability or authority. This is very beneficial, especially for the neophytes, who have no experience to fly the Unmanned Aircraft. Apart from this it will help protect public safety in the air or on the ground.

And if you feel that the Administration will not give punishment to the person who do not register their quadcopter, then it's your mistake. The penalties for not registering the drones are firm, it includes civil fines up to $27,000 and criminal fines up to 250,000 and the three years imprisonment.

I am sure one thing which will continously strike on your mind that which type of drones you have to register. Member of the Federal Aviation Administration said that: if you have a drone that can take video footage, you have to register it. Or the quadcopters that can fit inside your hand will likely pass muster.
