Recently, the German market research and analytics firm have just published the ranking of their Drone Types in USA and DJI Drone Quadcopter continuously achieve the top position. The main question that arises in everyone's mind- will consumer drone be able to maintain their leadership position with the emergence of the commercial marketplace? Well, it will be better to leave this question in the future, time will reveal everything. But if we are looking at this month ranking, Parrot has been active in commercial announcements.

Nowadays, without any doubt, DJI is in the cartel position when it comes to the number of certified drones. According to Sensefly- a Parrot company and a member of the small UAV Coalition company, ranks DJI eighth position among 4200 commercially operated units.

Why do we need to register our drone with the FAA?

On December 16, 2015, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that person with a drone that weighs more than 0.55 pounds must register it with the FAA. The registration process requires drone owner will pay $5.

According to the US Transportation secretary Anthony Fox, “It will help to protect public safety in the air and on the ground”. If you will ignore the registration process, you have to pay the fine: the penalties for registering eligible drone includes civil fine is $27,000 and criminal fee can go up to $250,000 and three years of prison. So it is very imperative for all individual, that he/she must register their drone.

Drone Type Ranking

The market keeps on changes towards the professional applications. In the last previous years, when everyone was holding the Phantom drone in his hands and they were a continuous trial and error phase of drone operation.

Today, you see plenty of professional equipment because numerous demanding applications require it. You can see the semi-professional equipment such as the DJI Phantom 3 Professional, the Phantom 3 advanced, as well as the most advanced drone in the marketplace like 3D Robotics Solo, or the Aeyron SkyRanger.

Simply keeping the rank seems to be a real challenge in the fast moving and dynamic market. However, platforms like DJI Inspire 1, Sense Fly ebee or the 3D Robotics Iris+ are steadily keeping on growing and maintain their market position.

The current ranking of the drone is checked by their potential in some specific fields such as Agriculture, estate, construction, mining, rescue operation, etc. It will be interesting to see if multi-purpose platforms will be replaced by the application-specific quadcopters.
